Why the Zebra Has Stripes

Updated: Jul 14

Long ago, in a sunny savanna, the zebra and the donkey were best friends, both plain gray with no fancy colors.

One day, the Great Artist of the Sky decided to paint the animals to make them special! The donkey tried first, dipping his tail in black paint and splashing it all over himself. But oh no! He made a big, messy blob and tripped, leaving him plain and grumpy.

Then it was zebra’s turn. He danced and twirled with a brush, painting black stripes across his body like a magic trick!

The Great Artist loved zebra’s fun moves and kept the stripes, saying, “These will hide you from lions with their wiggly patterns!”

Now, zebra loves showing off his cute striped body, painted by his clever dance, while donkey just brays about his failed splash.

Next time you see a zebra, imagine painting your own stripy masterpiece, maybe with a dance too! But now without the tail!
